Typically Fred: the sacchetto method

The sacchetto method is a traditional production method used in the Fred de la Bretoniere spring/summer collection. “The special name of this method comes from Italy. Sacchetto means pouch, in Italian, which actually explains what makes this method so unique”, says specialist Renée. Normally the leather is fitted around the last, but with the sacchetto method the top of theshoe is already attached to the sole, after which the last is inserted into the pouch thus created.

Flexible shoes

Next, the seam is stitched on the outside of the sole. This makes a shoe that is made according to the sacchetto method very flexible. “You can fold it like a pouch”, Renée explains. The fact that it is so flexible, does not affect the quality of the shoe. The result? A very traditional method, that results in very a stylish, modern shoe.
